VESC Tool

Hello, I controlled a Brushless DC motor using FOC on vesc-tool 3.00. Firmware: 5.2, HD:60.

After i got the behavior i desired, I wrote the motor configuration, and saved the configuration file. From the vesc. When I run the motor when not attached to the VESC tool in a different session, I get different motor behavior.

When i connect it to the vesc tool to confirm. It gives different behavior even when i reload the saved motor configuration file. Why does this happen?

Do I need to check and re control the motor each time i need to run it?

I have a Tmotor 4012 with a vesc 4, wich I use like a gimbal to control a microphone as silently as possible. I get very good results when I control it via the terminal in vesc tools. I use mainly 2 commands:

foc_openloop_duty 0.2 100 for a slow speed

and foc_openloop_duty 0.27 900 for a higher speed.

I have two questions:

Is it possible to send those commands vie UART ?

Is there a way to reverse the direction ?

For a project I am trying to control a single vesc through can messages send from a PC.

By setting the CAN mode to VESC I can receive the cyclic status message no problem. However when I send a message (e.g. 0x00000002 0x00 0x00 0x27 0x10, which should send drive no 2 to duty cycle 10%) nothing happens.

If the CAN mode is set to Comm bridge I can see that the vesc tool does receive the messages that I send (this is not the case in the VESC mode).

Hello, apparently there is an app setting with the option:  "Enable servo output on PPM-port when PPM-app is disabled."

However, I can not find this option on my VESC tool. If anyone has, can you please tell me how? I need  this option for my servo. I am using VESC-tool 3,  FW: 5.2, HW:60.

If it is not available because of my FW or HW, then how can I achieve this functionality? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I'm building an RC car and I'm having a problem with motor control, so I'm asking for help.

The motor works fine, but sometimes it stops making a strange noise.
Also, excessive heat is generated and a large inverse current flows (when checked by the VESC Tool). Do you know anything about this issue??

I am currently working on a project at university using VESCS. For documentation it would be very helpful to log not just the actual values but also set values (erpm, position...) to the csv file.

Did anyone have the same issue and has a solution for this? @Benjamin: is it planned to implement this to the existing csv logging functionality in VESC Tool?

Hi,

My ADC1 input is pinned around 3 volts with or without anything connected. I have done a bunch of troubleshooting and I think unfortunately it may be broken. The ADC2 however does work and when I hook my throttle up to it I get the expected range of voltage.

I would like to use ACD2 as my main current throttle control, but I do not see any option in VESC tool to make it the main throttle. Is this possible?

I have a direct drive hub motor that i am using in a e-bike. Everything works great except i am unable to get the startup torque. I noticed that the torque is not limited by current but by DUTY CYCLE. When i run the motor at high load, the ADC input automatically caps at maximum 16% . Just wondering what is the setting to make it go higher.

Hello, connected my brushless 3500 velineon motor of the traxxas ultimate, to VESC tool 3.0. During motor detection, the wheels attempt to spin but can not turn, they only budge a bit.
