advice on position control

Submitted by feskarn on Mon, 2021-02-15 14:47

I am completely new to VESC and am hoping I can get some noob advice. Basically met Benjamin briefly in work (great guy!) and learned about his fantastic esc design. Could not resist buying one just to learn more. I am however rather awful at programming and just do not know how to proceed.

The ESC is a trampa vesc6 100A and I have started playing with the vesctool. It was easy to setup a new motor and get it running in FOC mode. I have also installed a AS5047 encoder and it seems to work fine.

Hello,

I amusing VESC 6 MKV and I tried updating the firmware and it gets updated successfully.I generally wait about a min to reset the device and try auto connecting. When I configure the motor after upgrading it pops up an message that the tool has an older version and needs to be upgarded. It does allow me to configure the motor, but when i am trying to configure an input device it does not allow me to proceed and I am stuck, I tried upgrading my VESC multiple times but still having the same issue.

Negative Current Spikes with Unloaded Hub Motor at Full Throttle (95% Duty)

Submitted by vadicus on Wed, 2021-02-10 00:49

I've been testing my design (https://vesc-project.com/node/1477) with large hub motors, QS205 in this case, and I noticed that if I twitch the throttle to fully open, an over current fault is generated. The motor goes full speed and then controller suddenly cuts out. If I slowly advance the throttle, this doesn't happen: the motor spins at full speed without problem.

vesc free role?

Submitted by iplayfast on Mon, 2021-02-08 22:13

I just received a badly formated email, saying

The role, vesc_free, you acquired by purchasing a product at our store has expired. Any special access or privileges that came with it are now gone. You can purchase it again by going to VESC Project

Thanks again,

VESC Project

I have no idea what a role is. Can somebody explain to me what I no longer have?
