Current measurement

Submitted by Toto on Sun, 2021-02-07 09:12

Hello,

i tried the search function but did not find the answer. Maybe someone can give advice on my problem.
i am using a HGLTECH vesc 200 A Max 75v

i am running a sss56114 innerrunner 6 Pole Motor on 12s liion.
i know from previous measurement that this motor uses around 4A no load current. Wit the attached planetary gearbox slightly more.
with the vesc and attached metr can, I get readings of about 2A only.

How can that be?

thanks

Toto

is Cross Coupling power limitation?

Submitted by ziumus on Sat, 2021-02-06 15:57

Hello,

I'm unable to get more power from the motor.

Example :

QS 205, can get max 12kW ,

QS 138 70H can get max 18kW .

the test was done with the same power settings, same controller, and same battery, just different detection motor parameters.

72v battery capable of 400amps.

increasing phase current limit above 450A does not make more power, but low speed torque is much higher.

with another brand controller, i can have 16kW on qs205.

VESC Mini 4.20 boots up inconsistently, any suggestions

Submitted by Djmrozinski on Sat, 2021-02-06 10:54

I have 2 Flipsky Mini 4.20 VESC connected to two 10" hub motors. I have been able to connect and set up OK. When they are powered up at least 50% of the time, one vesc doesn't start properly. When it responds to a setRPM command it rub slowly in the opposite direction and never responses to any rpm increase commands, but it does stop if I send a setRPM(0). The opposite vesc starts and run properly. The next startup it will run OK.

VESC crashes on Servo output

Hello everyone,

I have a VESC 6 MKV that I am trying to use to control a F1Tenth-type Autonomous RC-Car. I have flashed the VESC with the newest (servo_out enabled) Firmware (5.02). The motor and servo of the car are controlled over the VESC ROS driver (https://github.com/f1tenth/f1tenth_system/tree/master/vesc).

Enertion FOCbox question

ENERTION FOCBOX

So completely disappointed in what a struggle it is to use VESC tool on this unit. I have never had such trouble with even older ESCs. I've never had to jump through so many hoops or execute so many specific, special operations just to get firmware flashed that allows the thing to function properly.

 This is a Vedder unit, v1.6 - HW4.12.
I don't want to, and shouldn't have to dedicate a part of my life to software expertise in order to program a VESC so I can ride my skateboard.

Just blew the FETs out of two V1.6, HW4.12 VESCs after re uploading firmware.

could not run .48 firmware because of motor temperature sensor fault when attempting auto detection.
This all started when I accidentally looped current and blew out the UART transceiver when I reconnected a pair while powered up. A bone head move I'll admit.
I would have expected some protection against this would be built in. I expected wrong.

What is the best way to make an emergency button to stop the motor from spinning?

Hi,
what do you think is the best way to integrating the emergency switch with VESC? I want to make a robot and when it goes out of control safely stop it with an emergency push button. I can think of few solutions, for example, when the button is pushed send a command to the vesc to set velocity to zero but what if vesc in itself will malfunction would it be better to cut off the power from vesc?
