Input wizard and/or firmware not working for Mini ESC 4.2 with PPM input?

Submitted by mshipowick on Thu, 2021-06-17 02:08

I'm using a Taranis transmitter and x8r receiver with two Mini ESC's.  They were working until I updated the firmware and motor setup.  The motor setup wizard worked fine but the input wizard did not work. And I haven't been able to fix it using the PPM app.  The throttle has only full speed and off or it goes spastic.  Thanks

PS   Thanks for editing the earlier version Frank.  I'd be grateful for any help.

Flipsky motor setup

Hello, can you help me? We bought  Flipsky motor and controller. I set up the motor as it was indicated in the instructions. But when I try to start the engine at a speed of 1000 RPM, the engine turns jerkily, not smoothly. What should I do to fix this problem?

Controller is Flipsky FSESC 6.6 single.

Motor is 160KV 6355 sensored.

Question about UARTs

Submitted by melluh on Sun, 2021-06-13 22:50

I want to read out some data from the VESC over the UART port, however I can't do this because it is already occupied by my receiver (which send it's commands over UART). However, I realised that the real-time streaming of data from the VESC tool still works over USB, even when the UART port is actively being used by the receiver. How does this work? Are the UART port and USB two different UARTs? Can they be used at the same time reliably?

Sensorless tuning tips on bicycle hub motor

Submitted by kalvdans on Sat, 2021-06-12 11:51

Hi all!

I have been running my electric bicycle (48V 1000W direct drive hub motor) with Vesc 4.12 in BLDC hall sensor mode flawlessly. Recently one hall sensor broke so I thought about using sensorless FOC mode. The automatic decection works and the motor spins great without load, but under load it starts to oscillate so that my wheel and the bike starts shaking.

Do you have any tips on what to adjust in the settings, or which graph to plot to give some clues?

The detected parameters (and max-min I've got during autodetection) are:

How can I add watts data to solidgeek?

Hi guys

I've made a dyno to test electric motors,  well at the moment I'm testing the output of a converted alternator.  I'm using solidgeek code with arduino on the uart port and have erpm for converting torque in to hp but would like to add watts being used so I can work out the efficiency.  Any help would be much appreciated!  Here's a link to my YouTube video,  I've added the mechanical kw conversion to the code after this video

VESC for BLDC Pump- motor settings

Submitted by ar5000 on Thu, 2021-06-10 10:02

I've been having trouble with a submersible pump that we buy from China in bulk.  The pumps are fine, but the BLDC controllers that they come with regularly die costing me a service call, flights, hotels, etc.  Instead of doing a redesign replacing the pump, I had the idea to just replace the BLDC motor controller with something that WASN'T from China...

Unity HFI but I can only configure one motor

Submitted by ZQuimson on Mon, 2021-06-07 20:02

Sorry if this has been asked before but I'm trying to setup HFI on my Unity and I can only get one motor to setup so far. They both setup and detect just fine through the setup wizard, and so far I have HFI setup on the local Vesc (that's what the Vesc tool said it was and I can tell hfi is working on one motor), but how would I configure HFI for the second motor? I don't see anywhere where I can change the ui to the second motor rather than the first. I tried to scan for can-bus through the tool and it said it's not enabled in this build of VESC Tool.
