FOC control Speed and D-axis current oscillations

Submitted by sxv9616 on Tue, 2019-12-03 22:14

Forums:

Hello all,

I am running a motor using sensorless FOC in PID speed control mode.

The problem i have is: after certain load point motor oscillates and motor current sharply raises and falls for few seconds, during this time d axis currents is fluctuating. once the d axis current stabilizes, motor maintains speed and motor current, d axis current increases with load.

what should i try to remove speed and d axis current oscillations.

Problem with encoder readings with arduino

Submitted by ruthvikchanda on Thu, 2018-12-06 07:04

Forums:

we are getting the encoder readings from the vesc using basic arduino but the issue is that the readings or anaolg value for revolution is varying in two directions..i.e for  example  if the motor is rotating right for 10sec the encoder reading is 200 and if the motor is rotating left for 10sec the encoder reading is somwere around 300 or 100 .its is keep on varying but not a constant value. What is actual problem??? Can anyone solve this out??

Dead VESC - Vibration?

Submitted by Shannon Talbot on Mon, 2018-05-14 02:28

Forums:

I think my VESC died due to vibrations over time. One of the pieces of the VESC has broken from the board. I was wondering if it's possible to connect this back up? If so how do I go about it? I'm not that great with soldering but this is a pretty large item. The main thing though is knowing the orientation. See pictures below for the details.

UART working great at low current, terrible at high current

Submitted by Dillon on Sat, 2018-03-17 04:17

Forums:

Hello everyone,

I am using two VESC6 units; each communicating via UART with its own serial port to a custom microcontroller setup of mine. (two VESCs hooked up to UART 5 and 6 on my controller)

Before using this UART communication I was using PPM + CAN to send these commands. Everything worked amazing besides the fact that I need to control these motors separately. When I switched to UART, Everything works great at low speeds. As soon as I try to accelerate heavily in the slightest bit it starts cutting out every 10-100 milliseconds.

PPM Output unavailable, or not functional - Vesc6.4

Submitted by solbergen on Tue, 2018-02-27 23:45

Forums:

We have previously been using the vesc 4.12 with the custom firmware for outputting PPM signal to use with an external steering servo, but after moving to the vesc6.4, it seems like the hardware does not output the ppm signal, even after flashing with the firmware. We have verified that there is no signal output through connecting a scope between the signal and GND pin, without any result.

Is there any reason why this should not work?

VESC 6 connection issue

Forums:

Hi everyone,

I recently got 2 beautiful VESCs 6. One of them works properly since I updated the firmware following the recommendations I red in this post  but I can't get the second working properly.

When I power it ON, only the blue led shines steadily, the VESC doesn't appear as a "VESC-COMx" in the connection tab, and the FW update doesn't works.

May anybody give my a push so that I could get it working?

Thx!
