single 6374 FOC ride log + question on temp cutoff

Hi guys,

the VESC 6 is amazing, FOC detection worked straight away and I didn't have to adjust any other parameter, I think I'm getting good results but I never played with the FOC settings to be honest. I know that a 10 or 12S would be more efficient but as I had 97mm wheels and 15/36T as gearing I went 8S (li-ion 8S5P) because I was scared of going too fast, I know that with a 10S and w/ rate-limiting the rpms it will be much better... I will think about it ^^

Getting big motor to pass "detection".

None of the detections work. I've tried increasing or decreasing the current, adapting the omega etc etc, but nothing seems to work.

I have the impression that the code ramps up the rotation speed way too fast for the motor to follow. Is there a way to adjust this?

OK. Update: The FOC hall sensor detect works. Then with say 2A current setting the motor starts to turn. It runs fine with about 2A.

I just realized: I'm running with the FOC parameters detected with my C8085 motor: R=16mOhm, L=6.84mH, Lambda=4.3mWb.

Motor setup (6374-192kv)

Hi,

I am trying to setup the VESC with a 6374-192kv motor from Hobbyking (Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 6374-192kv). However in the setup wizard the VESC can't measure the flux linkage (the motor doesn't spin only shakes a little). It is measuring the resistance and intuctanse just fine.

I am using a 14V power supply, and sets the maximum current to be 1A (in the setup wizard). The only thing connected is a USB-cable and the motor. What am I doing wrong?

I got a image of the error I get: http://imgur.com/ZmszMdc

I'm lost! How to get the VESC Tool

Hi,

I hold the Vesc & in my hands and get crazy.

Don't know how to download the VESC tool.
According to the VESC-Tool page I need code.
"This product is available if you have purchased original VESC hardware and entered the code you got to enable access. After completing this (free) purchase, you will obtain"
Where does the code come from and where I've to enter it?? Is it the invoice number?

ppm controller questions. [first build]

Submitted by Jacob Lord on Fri, 2017-06-09 20:44

Hello all.

Just went through the motor setup and it was frankly just amazingly simple. but now im onto the controller which I have a HK-GT2B (ppm) .

I see where the three pin ppm module goes but I have no idea where the brick goes (on the right) http://imgur.com/a/LhKmC

furthermore, in the controller setup it gives me a choice of what type of control I want. I have absolutely no idea which setting to use. http://prntscr.com/fhxcyu

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hey there,

I've been riding this prototype board at speed for quite some time now and I'm now going to replace the V4 with the V6 to report back on the beta.
- 12S4AH 150C Flat pack
- Sensored 150kv motors
- 66T/15T

The trucks are MBS Matrix PRO 2 but I'm going also to replace them with Infinity but in a second step (takes time)

I will build a little box to put below the dual VESC so the wiring will be invisible just by adding 5mm. This will also enable to get some nice motor connector layout as they will be integrated in the box.

VESC CNC case - Feedbacks

Hi !

I open this thread to put few inputs about the CNC case.

1. The edges of the input power hole are sharp. With vibration I'm afraid that the silicone of wires will be cut making a short at the end (there is already a mark on mine)
http://hpics.li/2e73bd2
Is it possible to smooth the edge with a fillet or chamfer ?
For the moment I would suggest betas to add a little piece a heatshrink to protect the silicone. ;)

BTW, congrats for this great case, it feels like rock solid !
