Arduino Library that works with VESC 6 ?

Submitted by ajfriedlund on Thu, 2021-05-20 18:03

Forums:

I recently bought a VESC6 and tried to use the SolidGeek Arduino libary with it.. had no luck. I tried lots of configurations with the firmware and the VESC app settings, but nothing worked. I then decided to buy a VESC 4.12 and it worked immediatly, with no issues.

Does anyone know what I might change about Solid Geeks source in order to get the VESC 6 running with UART on an Arduino? (I am using a Mega)

how to set vesc to generate currente as generator

Submitted by roque.canales on Sat, 2020-12-05 08:44

Forums:

Hello I would like to set VESC to generate current.

Idea is to make is work as if I use triphased rectifier diode gate.

So 100% duty cycle generator mode, no voltage control, no current control, only 100%duty cycle regenerative braking.

I'm using 100A Vesc IV from Trampa boards. And I don't know how to set this...

I used this ESC as generator without any setting for generate current, and without any control there is the forward diodes of mosfets that do the job, but this heat so much ! but it works.

Braking current after high-speed coast

I mentioned my experience in a different thread, but wanted to repeat it here, since this felt like a serious event.

While logging data I was coasting downhill with a little more speed (perhaps 10 %) than the drive can normally produce, and started regen braking a bit (using FOC).  The actual brake was a lot stronger than requested!  Link to graph (28k eRPM = 25 km/h):

DIY Vesc 75/300 motor not spinning

Forums:

Hi,

I build a vesc 75/300 by using schematic benjamin has shared. But i got  problem. The pcb can recognized by vesc tool , i can make configurations and vesc tool can recognize motors etc.

Unfortunately, at the end, there is no spinning at the motor. The pcb does not pulls any current but vesc tool says that duty is increasing up to %20 percent and there is not any faults at the terminal.  I will be sharing the picture of the problem.

Anyone has any ideas ?

Thanks

FOC control Speed and D-axis current oscillations

Forums:

Hello all,

I am running a motor using sensorless FOC in PID speed control mode.

The problem i have is: after certain load point motor oscillates and motor current sharply raises and falls for few seconds, during this time d axis currents is fluctuating. once the d axis current stabilizes, motor maintains speed and motor current, d axis current increases with load.

what should i try to remove speed and d axis current oscillations.

Problem with encoder readings with arduino

Submitted by ruthvikchanda on Thu, 2018-12-06 07:04

Forums:

we are getting the encoder readings from the vesc using basic arduino but the issue is that the readings or anaolg value for revolution is varying in two directions..i.e for  example  if the motor is rotating right for 10sec the encoder reading is 200 and if the motor is rotating left for 10sec the encoder reading is somwere around 300 or 100 .its is keep on varying but not a constant value. What is actual problem??? Can anyone solve this out??

Dead VESC - Vibration?

Submitted by Shannon Talbot on Mon, 2018-05-14 02:28

Forums:

I think my VESC died due to vibrations over time. One of the pieces of the VESC has broken from the board. I was wondering if it's possible to connect this back up? If so how do I go about it? I'm not that great with soldering but this is a pretty large item. The main thing though is knowing the orientation. See pictures below for the details.
