Mini/micro/nano VESC solutions?

Submitted by Cham on Mon, 2020-09-21 17:34

Hello,

Is anyone aware of a tiny sized VESC which is 2S lipo capable? I would like to try out a VESC in 1/28 scale racing cars. The ideal size for a VESC for this application would be approx. 30mmx25mmx10mm.

If such a small sized VESC doesn't exist is there someone that can make one?

Any leads to this info will be much appreciated!

Cheers,

Cham

Submitted by tailele on Sun, 2020-09-20 21:48

Good morning...now i explain my problem. I have a scooter with two motors. The front motor could be turn on or off with a botton. Now i would have 4 different set ups with 4 different velocites in vesc tools android app. I use a ubox mainboard 75v and 200 amps . I connect the board with bluethoot . When i choose a profile, this set up Is Only use in One motor, instead the second motor works with the standard profile. Is It possible to set the same profiles in the same time? Thanks

Motor Setup issues e-Snowboard

Submitted by arosenthal on Fri, 2020-09-18 21:10

Hi Group!

Getting closer to getting this paddle boat running.

I have a snowboard setup with a 60v/1600w motor inside a paddle wheel connected to a 75/200 ESC via 2 x 13s 14ah batteries.

No load I can get the motor running from the VESC tool. Sensored FOC

If I hammer down on it I get an ABS Over current. (Setting throttle response to 1s solved but seemed like a hack.)

Summerboard VESC Problems

Submitted by teijidude on Sat, 2020-09-12 22:19

Hey, I purchased a Summerboard E-skateboard last month and they gave me instructions for pairing my remote to my board using VESC tool app.

The instructions told me to have my bluetooth on on my phone, and then to scan for the board through the BLE Connection. 'VESC BLE UART' shows up and i'm told to press 'Connect.'

However, when I press connect, instead of it saying at the bottom that I had connected to the VESC, it gives me this:

VESC clone smoked - help needed please

Submitted by JoshuaGraham14 on Fri, 2020-09-11 00:14

I am currently in the process of building my first electric skateboard. I have attached an image of the components I am using. Last month after a few tests, I had an incident where my ESC smoked up. I have no clue why it smoked up? I used the correct settings, my batteries are compatible. I wish I knew why (it is killing me)!!! Hopefully the problem lies with the ESC, i.e. it was faulty.

Now I am also concerned that the motor could have caused the ESC to smoke, or maybe even worse, the possibility that the motor has now become damaged from the incident.

Bluetooth 4 remote

Submitted by bob23 on Fri, 2020-09-04 02:19

Hello guys,

I'm wondering if a bluetooth 4 remote would  work if I have a nrf51822 chip connected to a VESC (hw 6 based).

I found this thing that looks interesting:

I found it cheap, 9$ with free shipping, says it's Bluetooth 4, and already has USB connector, on/off switch and some buttons that I can use for different actions.

FOC Motor Detection Killed Motor? SOLVED

Submitted by KirkusMaximus on Mon, 2020-08-31 02:20

Leaving this for future reference.  I reset all settings back to factory in the VESC Tool, re-ran the FOC detection but selected a smaller motor size, left everything else default.  Then set up the input after that.  Did the trick.

Soft/Firmware:  VESC Firmware 5.1  Hardware 4.10   Flipsky Mini FSESC4.20 50A SK8-ESC

Motor: Flipsky 6354 190KV 2450W BLDC Brushless Belt Sensored Motor.   Also connected hall sensor in addition to A1 B1 C1.

Flipsky FSESC v4.20 suddenly flashing error code

I'm sure there's a bazillion of these messages cluttering this forum, but I haven't been able to find any help in a search.  Maybe someone here can make sense of what is going on/what happened/what not to do/what to do?

Firstly, I'm aware that there are a number of modifications of the name "Flipsky" used on this forum; they don't have the best of reputation.  But I decided that I should at least start cheap, instead of potentially blowing several hundred dollars with ESC newbie mistakes.  And well...

So my hardware setup is as follows:

24v Kobalt Powered Sunjoe Mower

Submitted by mistersketchman on Sun, 2020-08-02 01:54

AFAIK, no one else has done this. It is far from an ideal build. I replaced the stock motor from the cheapest cordless Sunjoe mower available with the motor from a Kobalt 24v weedwhacker. Reason is that the Sunjoe mower has a non-swappable battery pack. You'd have to take off the top of the mower to change it out. So, if you didn't finish the lawn on one charge, unlikely, you'd have to wait to recharge to continue.

Current out of Sync

Submitted by CTSchorsch on Sat, 2020-08-01 13:24

Hi all,

i have a problem with my custom PCB and higher currents. I think it is a hardware bug. With higher currents, the battery current, battery voltage and motor current have high ripple. Very often the curent out of sync error is reportet. but not allways

i guess there are too less caps near to the FETs and maybe i need a "global" cap at the battery input. Can someone confirm this ? or is this a more a software problem ?
