Just blew the FETs out of two V1.6, HW4.12 VESCs after re uploading firmware.

could not run .48 firmware because of motor temperature sensor fault when attempting auto detection.
This all started when I accidentally looped current and blew out the UART transceiver when I reconnected a pair while powered up. A bone head move I'll admit.
I would have expected some protection against this would be built in. I expected wrong.

O well I fixed that and confirmed that I had functionality again. Then I figured I'd go ahead and run through a motor auto detection because I had swapped motors and never changed settings previously. Why not rite?

well here's why not, after renewing my subscription and upgrading to platinum platform I had to play firmware games. After finding that a newer version of firmware caused a relatively minor conflict it would appear that the earlier version of firmware has caused a significantly more dramatic issue.

HOW THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO FEEL WHEN SELECTING DETECTION CAUSES THIS KIND OF ISSUE.

Keep in mind this was a functional piece of equipment previously with the exception of the required UART transceiver chip replacement which I admit I bear responsibility for.

SO SICK AND TIRED OF THE BS, UNNECESSARY, POINTLESS revisions and updates to firmware that potentially conflicts with hardware so radically.

This says nothing about the poor hardware design that allows for issues like negative loop current feedback to take out UART transceiver chip when running VESCs in pairs.
so now in spite of having already repaired the UART issue by replacing the transceiver chip another issue has completely destroyed the VESC.
This was solely as a result of a software versus hardware conflict that had radical and devastating results.

BUT WHAT DO I KNOW IM JUST A GUY WHO CAN DIAGNOSE AND REPLACE THE UART CHIP IN HIS BASEMENT.

I should have left the parameters alone and just run it the way it was. But who would think anyone would allow a conflict be created that was so radical that a click of a mouse would take out the protection fuse and fry the VESC so completely.

I have never had issues like this with the Chinese ESC's that I've used regularly in the past. Truly disappointed in the " quote on quote " better quality Vedder VESC.

THIS IS WHAT THE BEST HAS TO OFFER?
