Multiple "Custom User Apps" Selectable from VESC Tool

Submitted by tpal on Thu, 2022-05-05 18:43

I have multiple custom apps designed that are working great in the VESC. However, if I want to switch a VESC to a different app, I need to upload new firmware. I'm wondering how I can modify the app list in VESC and VESC tool to have multiple custom apps with custom names. I had thought about just modifying existing apps with my code. I don't want to modify too much base code, so its easier to stay current with updates to main branch. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Motor Overheating in FOC

Submitted by amanpereira1 on Thu, 2022-05-05 16:14

Hi Guys,

I have a custom built 10 pole, 860kV, 48v, sensor-less brushless DC motor (medium inrunner), that i am trying to spin at 30,000 RPM for a project i am doing,

I am using a Dual FSESC6.6 6.7, running in FOC mode. I have run the FOC setup wizard selecting the direct drive option and it successfully detects the parameters. After a bunch of tweaking i was able to get the motor to spin at a constant rpm (around 29,000 rpm, 147000 ERPM).

CAN Analyzer

hi. We are using VESC and CAN Analyzer(UCAN v2.0). We have some problem. And we want to receive the information about VESC by using CAN Analyzer.

Here is the VESC CANBUS Protocol.

Our VESC CANBUS ID is 59(hex). So,We expect that we will receive the message ID which has 0x00000059. But in Analyzer, Our Messages are some different.

Can't start a sensorless motor of a scooter

Submitted by tobe81cwb on Mon, 2022-05-02 03:25

I have an old scooter, which I decided to change the controller for the VESC (the original controller is one of those very generic Chinese ones - it's working).
The problem is that I don't have much information about the motor.
The motor even spins when the wheel is lifted, however, with the weight of the scooter itself, it does not have the strength to start, only pushing.

Some motor and battery specs:
Motor: 800w, 48v, 10 inch, 30 pole, sensorless.
Battery: 13s8p 20Ah (18650 Li-Ion)

Full Throttle direct after input deadband

Hello,

I have following setup for the use in a e-foil board:

- Motor: Flipsky 65161 / 100kv

- Controller: Flipsky FSESC 75200

- Remote: Flipsky VX3

Unfortunately, I can not regulate the motor continuously, rather digital, on/off.
Finger carefully on the remote and ...
When the value of the "input deadband" (15%) is reached, the controller immediately delivers 95% duty and the motor reaches its maximum speed.

VESC output current decreasing in time

I'm testing a VESC 75V 300A version from Trampa Boards to drive Motenergy ME0907 motor in sensored mode. It works well overall, however I noticed one problem: if the load is high the controller seems to be reducing the motor current which I guess it could be doing to prevent MOSFET overheating. However based on the temperature readings the MOSFET temperature is lower than the cutoff temperature. Basically the reduction in output current starts happening at around 70C degree, while cutoff start if set at 85C.
