C Type USB and Power Delivery 3.1

Submitted by Rarikao on Fri, 2023-04-21 08:51

Hello VESC community,

Do you think possible to add Power Delivery 3.1 (up to 240W 5Ax48V) management by the VESC STM32 processor?

Same connector for charge battery or VESC tool communication in case of USB connection.

I saw on ST web site that it should be possible without external component but I must check deeper this topic.

The final objectif will be to use this type of charger for charge battery using CC/CV procedure.

Target voltage and current can be received through CAN.

Double current single direction common ground DC motor driving

Submitted by fdryk on Tue, 2023-03-28 18:36

Driving a DC motor with a common ground to the negative input it is possible if you only need to drive it in a single direction. Driving the motor through PWM mode works with a single output connected. (same as picture below with only the "U" connector to motor) However the current control is not useable as one of the current shuts is not used, and the watt hours consumed is also unusable. This also disables the safety features of the ESC.

This would also be usefull for driving resistive loads.

Total ODOMETER counter via real time logging feature request

Submitted by janzobanzo7 on Mon, 2022-10-24 14:49

Hello,

I have VESC on my homemade electric scooter, I love it so far!

The only inconvenience on vesc for me is, that VESC does not record total ODOMETER (total travelled distance [km], on that vehicle).

I heared, that hardware of VESC does not support that kind of RAM (that remembers through cycles).

But this feature could be implemented only in app with REAL TIME LOGGING enabled, so when you connect to the VESC, it reads certain .csv file and updates the total ODOMETER..

Request Feature to add minimum Battery Voltage value in addition to duty cycle for field weakening

Submitted by aquaponiccowboy on Mon, 2022-10-17 04:49

feature request to add a field for minimum battery voltage for field weakening to enable.. to work alongside the percent duty cycle value

my context is in a balance board/app where field weakening at low battery may be poor user experience or unsafe . It is possible this may be desirable in other EV contexts to lessen potential stress on batteries at low percentages

explanation of the behavior and my use case below:

Apply current to brake at low speed

Submitted by argon338 on Wed, 2022-08-17 08:36

Hello,

When we use hub motors - skate brakes are weak under 10 km/h, adding cloud wheels 105mm makes it more weak. Extremely weak.

Of course because hubs are weak motors without any kind of gear ratio.

Please make option to apply current to active brake motors when speed slow and motor generate less power.

And also will be much helpful to add at the same moment old request - https://vesc-project.com/node/146

Many thanks for your electronics I enjoy everyday :)

VESC TOOL Mobile over OTG

Is it possible to add this option?

Im going to attempt to add it myself.

My android programming experience is novice.

I will post back if I get it properly added. If not, I hope Ben does. Thank you.

Auto tune pid

Submitted by vcth on Fri, 2022-07-01 09:41

I am currently struggling in tuning pid with vesc tools.

The tuning process has been tiring not just because of clicking between the pid page and real time graph, trying with different duty cycle and rpm but also huge workload when facing a lot of motors to tune. Therefore, I would like to find solutions in automating this process.

Is it possible that vesc tool can provide this function?

Or, is there a way/function for me to implement it myself?
