Motor is too loud, are there settings to quiet it?

Submitted by Jason Toews on Thu, 2021-09-23 20:49

Hello,

I have bought a Flipsky Mini FSESC4.2 and a Flipsky 6374/140KV motor in hopes of retrofitting a ceiling ventilation fan in our camper truck. But it seems it's quite a bit louder than the brushed original and I'm hoping there is some setting I have overlooked that might quite it.

Which hall sensor should i buy?

I need to by hall sensor for alternator conversion (preferably on Aliexpress).
It can't be bigger than spi-3 package because it needs to fit in the center of alternator's stator.
It needs to resist temperatures over 110°C / 230°Fdon't ask me how I know ; )

Also any thermal epoxy and thermistor recommendations?

How to start a new VESC 6 hardware project

Submitted by olek130 on Sun, 2021-08-15 18:10

Hey!

I was thinking about doing my version of VESC for pretty long time. I started working on schematics for VESC 6 mk V based board but I have some worries about compatibility with VESC Tool / Firmware.

Is it sufficient to create a proper header file for my pins definitions in hwconf/ folder in order to make original firmware work with my board?

Cheap remote from cheap board

Submitted by Remind on Sun, 2021-08-15 02:06

Hello, is it possible to connect cheap remote from dead longboard esc to VESC? It has nrf24l01 onboard, but I don't know if the protocol used here is implemented in VESC firmware.

Also, if not, i would like to know, is it possible to communicate directly with VESC using nrf24l01 connected over SPI bus, and if so: is there any protocol description anywhere? IMG_20210815_030243_752.jpg

Esc does not reply

Submitted by nemethLali on Sun, 2021-08-01 16:07

Hi, We have a small project where we use an stm32V407 panel(our) connected to ESC 4.20 through UART baud rate 57600. Stop bits parameter is 2 We use only a few functions from the esc. These are the bldc_interface_get_values and the bldc_interface_set_rpm. The bldc_interface_set_rpm works fine and the motor does what it should. But the bldc_interface_get_values does not work according to our expectation. Our panel polls the ESC in about 100ms frequency the ESC panel and there are really seldom replies for this message. (Reply arrives around every 4 seconds).

Porting VESC firmware to ODrive hardware

Submitted by Remind on Wed, 2021-06-30 01:39

It seems like now, with proper dual motor support, it is possible to port VESC software to O-Drive hardware, however I'm not that great programmer: I've tried looking into hv_unity config files, but i can't spot the place, where all outputs going to motor drivers are defined.

The reason to port VESC firmware is that O-Drive hardware is cheaper than most available VESCs, but its software is limited to only about 30k ERPM, which is too low.

So, is there any proper docmentation for dual motor setups? Or can somebody try to help me implement my idea?
