What do the LEDs mean?

Submitted by Chaim Lukas Maier on Thu, 2023-01-19 16:35

Hi,

I am new to VESC and using a FSESC 4.20.

I cannot connect to it via USB anymore. (It worked until a bit ago.)

The LEDs show:
- Blue: Permanently On
- Green: Off for 1 second, On for 1 second.
- Red: On whenever Green is on

Is this a special (intended) mode, or did I break something?

Are the LEDs trying to tell me something? (Also, where would I look this up?)

Thank you,

Chaim Lukas

Multiple VESCs, CANBus, Galvanic Isolation and Puffs of Smoke

I'm running at 50% success rate here and I need a bit of help.  I connected two Flipsky 4.2s via CanBus which ended in ESC death.  They did have two different batteries and I'm thinking the voltage difference might have crossed the two CanBus wires.   I tried again with two Flipsky 75100s and it worked with no issue, though the voltage difference may have been less.   Do I need galvanic isolators across the Can Bus to avoid any issues when using separate power sources?  Should I do the same even if using the same battery for all motors?

Jerking when changing between accelerating and braking

Hey everyone, yet another cry of help post to add to the archive. I have a small issue that I've been puzzling over for almost a year at this point and I figured I would make a post and pick some brains to see if I can finally get this solved.

I have an electric motorcycle setup with a QS273 electric hub and a Trampa 100/250. I have the controller configured with a single throttle that supports both regen and acceleration in the same unit (Spin-y).

switching power supply

can i use a switched-mode power supply instead of a battery for testing?

Power supply: 2kW Output 52V 40A       BLCD Motor: 5KW 14S 220KV  100A

i use the controller to regulate a belt drive with a 35Kg Flywheel.

I change the some parameters for Battery management:

Motor Current Max: 100A

Motor Current Max Brake: -30A

Current Max Regen: = 0A

Battery cutoff start: 40V

Battery cutoff end: 35V

Battery Current Max: 40A
