VESC without Shunt Resistors/FOC

Submitted by tul00985 on Mon, 2018-06-11 13:27

Hello,

i'am planning to build my own VESC. But i don't want to use Shunt Resistors in the Phases.

I know that FOC will not work, but BLDC (trapeziodal) should work.

Is it possible to flash the  VESC Firmware on a VESC Hardware without Shunts?

What would happen if the current measurement Pins are connected to a single shunt in Bat+ line? With INA169 or something else. Just for Current logging/Protection funktions.

Hi All,

im a passionate ebike builder and i have been always looking for a robust ESC with high current capability. I came across the VESC 4.12 and was very impressed by the opportunities it offers. Sadly i managed to blow 4 DRV's and got tired to repair them. I came across this VESC based ESC from the Netherlands :

Information about "Das RS" and "Das mini" hardware using DRV8313/DRV8320

I already saw a while ago that there is a hardware config file on Benjamins github available about a hardware called "DAS_RS" that uses an DRV8313 with 0.01 Ohm phase shunts and I was interested in this board but couldn't find anything about it on the internet. Now a few weeks ago a new board called "DAS_MINI" popped up that uses a DRV8320 and also three phase shunts and I am even more curious about that design but also didn't find anything about it.

Custom 12S VESC, motor jerks but wont start

Hello, I made my own 4.12 VESC where I basically just changed 50V to 100V ceramics, a ferrite bead, and a TVS so the VESC could work more reliably with a 12S pack. Also did my own layout so all transistors are on the same side so I can put a heatsink on the bottom of the board. Of course, it doesn't work.

FW 3.34, Hw 410, UUID 52 00 4E 00 18 51 36 34 32 35 34 36. Motor is a 5065 270Kv.

Hello everybody,

I have started designing my own dual VESC 6 hardware for my electric longboard application. I am also integrating an antispark switch and accessory board support. I have just started laying out the board and figured I would start a thread for documentation purposes. Here is an image of the initial layout so far:

I'll keep posting updates as they happen. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!

Cheers!

Low power VESC - any available

I am considering to use the vesc for a small 1:18 car, so 3s LiPo and a little brushless sensored motor. Just playing with it, only thing I really need is FOC, PID speed and maybe UART controlled.

Do you know of any company selling such? The Mini4 is certainly an option. Anything else?

Or should I go with the original 4.10 PCB I have and simply replace the large capacitors with ...... which?
