Power switch on VESCT6+ (MK3)

Submitted by henry10210 on Thu, 2019-12-26 00:47

Hello, trying out this forum even though I paid the money to Trampa Boards, since the product cover says "Designed by Benjamin".  Please point me to the right place if this inquiry is misdirected.

Just received by VESC6+ from Trampa Boards 2 days ago, and have been looking for more detailed documentation than what I can find on the Trampa Boards website.  Looking for:

Controlling multiple VESC over SPI

Submitted by ttufuor on Mon, 2019-11-18 04:37

Hi,

I am using the VESC 4.12 hardware for a project. For the project I am using 4 VESCs and all of them receive their commands from one central computer/controller. I am not using CAN because of the data rate I require and the speed of my control loop.

I am trying to control it with SPI. On the 4.12 schematic (BLDC 4), the comms header (P3) has SPI pins available. What do I need to do to control the VESCs over SPI. Can you tell me how to go about this, and can you confirm if the SPI logic level is 3.3V or 5V?

Thanks

VESC 75/300 with sin/cos encoder

Submitted by sajjen on Tue, 2019-11-12 16:16

I have a boat with a Heinzmann PMS 120 motor, powered by a 16S LiFePO4 pack and controlled by a Sevcon Gen4 controller.

I'm considering a switch to the VESC 75/300. The VESC Tool seems like a much more useful tool then the Sevcon software.

The motor is equipped with a sin/cos encoder. Would the VESC be able to interface this?

Vesc 6 and encoder connections

Submitted by eptv on Thu, 2019-10-31 15:46

I googled a lot about encoder connection to VESC.

I found that VESC 6 does not need modifications when connecting AS5047P encoder via software SPI bus to HALL port. And there is another way of connecting encoder to hardware spi port, but I have to to recompile firmware in this case.

How it works on schematic side that now is possible use HALL port for sensors and SPI without hardware modifications?

Driving two motors with 75/300

Submitted by cmarc on Wed, 2019-10-16 17:32

Hi,

I just bought a 75/300 board and I thought it could control 3 motors... Only understood my mistake when I saw one motor sensor connector....

Is it possible to connect two 118kv motors from Trampa on the same 75/300 ? (I assume there is no way then to read the hall sensors from second motor ?)

Also, does anybody knows of any cheap option for 5kw motor that could be driven by the board ? (I'm using it to electrify an old mower)

Thanks,

VESC 4.12 Duty is always 110%. Possible short?

Submitted by tahirali1 on Sun, 2019-10-13 14:22

Hello FOCers :D

I have built a couple of VESCs (4.12), but this latest one I built is exhibiting rather strange behavior.A

As soon as I connect the vesc via vesctool, the dutycycle green bar in the lower part of the screen shows 110% duty cycle, and it always stays there (ocassionally it jumps around, but most of the time it is solid 110-20%).

I am guessing it is either a hardware failure (MOSFET? Shunts? DRV?) or a short somewhere.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Thanks so much!

75/300 NRF Pairing

Submitted by eptv on Sat, 2019-10-12 14:47

Hello All,

I have 75/300 with NRF Dongle (https://www.trampaboards.com/vesc-connect-nrf-wireless-dongle-p-26767.html)

I connected dongle with serial COMM cable and Bluetooth is working.

Also I have Vesc WAND remote. And pairing is not working. I switch on WAND but seconds just going from 10 to 0.

Could you point the right way to pair WAND?

fault_code_high_offset_current_sensor_1

Submitted by Enak on Thu, 2019-10-10 02:48

I have a few faulty vesc 6 which failed from a bad motor hall sensor (I think, both died on the bench running motor detection).  I successfully repaired one replacing the stm and reflashing.  The second one also now connects but I get fault_code_high_offset_current_sensor_1 and red flashing led at powerup.  I reflashed on USB but still have the same error so I also replaced the 8301 but with the same problem still.

Any guidance on what to check next?
