If you have the R2 hardware you can switch it off by setting Enable Permanent UART to false in App Settings > General. I don't think they will interfere with each other though.
Another option that is possible with the VESC Tool version I uploaded yesterday is to erase the firmware on the NRF. Connect cables from IO and CLK on the SWD connector to the same lines on the NRF SWD connector and use the SWD Prog page in vesc tool to erase the NRF firmware. It is possible to write it back using the same method later too. Make sure to not short anything with loose wires when plugging them in.
