[Custom PCB Motor] Desync issues on Flipsky Mini VESC - Parameter Uncertainty?

Submitted by kimjingyu on Tue, 2026-03-31 18:07

Hi, I'm a student testing a custom Axial Flux PCB Motor.

My motor runs smoothly in Open-loop mode, so I believe the hardware is fine. However, it loses sync immediately in Closed-loop (FOC). I suspect the measured parameters ($R, L, \lambda$) are inaccurate.

VESC 6 MKVI not detected by VESC Tool / firmware version cannot be read

Submitted by kimyeonjun on Tue, 2026-03-31 04:47

Hello,

I am having a problem with my VESC 6 MKVI and I would like to ask for help.

My VESC 6 MKVI is not being detected properly by VESC Tool, and the firmware version cannot be read.
When I try to connect, it either fails to connect or does not load the device information correctly.

Here is what I have already tried:

  • changed the USB cable

  • tried different USB ports on the PC

  • powered the board from an external battery

  • tried connecting with ST-LINK

Cant get Data on VESC Dash 35B

Submitted by CommanderLee on Thu, 2026-03-26 00:42

Hi,

I have put my motor and the VESC into operation.

I can connect via WiFi using VESC (station mode) through a hotspot to my computer without any issues — everything is working.

I connected the VESC Dash 35B with +5V, GND, CAN-H, and CAN-L.

It powers on, and I can access the ESP32 of the display using my smartphone and the VESC app.

VESC BMS Harmony16

Submitted by DanielB on Wed, 2026-03-25 14:47

Hello

I've got a VESC BMS harmony 16.
When I plug it in my laptop the green LED only blinks in roughly intervals of 10 seconds.
It does not auto-detect a COM port and is also not visible over bluetooth.

Does anyone know what the blinking means and could give me any advice on how to proceed?

Thanks,
Daniel

VESC 100/250MK issues with output power

Submitted by martin321 on Tue, 2026-01-13 09:52

Hello,

We have a VESC100/250 MK3 firmware 6.6 on 52v battery.

Running a Flipsky 6384 140kv motor in our testbench with eddy current break and torque sensor.

While running the motor with a Hargrave microDRIVELP we get max output power of 3600watt and 7.5Nm on 60% duty and 90% breaking power running both FOC and Trapozoidal

With VESC after running calibration we can only get 6.3Nm at 60% duty, this is 80% break and motor stutters and phase current spikes.

Vesc Pronto Hall Sensors not detecting

Submitted by lcappellano on Sun, 2026-01-11 19:27

I bought a vesc pronto a few months back. I just had time now to set it up on my ebike and it seems like the hall 2 input is not working. I tested the motor off the bike with an external 5v power supply and
logic analyzer which showed the 3 hall sensors toggling as I would expect, so I'm fairly certain that the hall sensors are working

VESC 4.12 Running Perfectly in sensorless mode but in Encoder Mode it is unable to run

Submitted by Godfather on Sun, 2025-09-07 14:12

I have set up the hardware using an MT3515-650kV Motor, along with a 360 PPR ABI  Encoder. Everything is properly coupled, and I have verified the index and A-B wave forms on the board; everything appears to be perfect. The waveform on the VESC Tool is showing proper feedback. But the Current is huge without any load and no feedback control seems to be working when I remove the encoder or ty to stop the motor by hands.

Doubts on ERPM limit on VESC 4.12 HW

Submitted by raghuvir on Tue, 2025-07-08 13:10

I have VESC 4.12 HW and I am using 150KV motor and I am supplying it with two li-ion batteries in series (12s system, 50.4v with full charge)

My motor is having total 28 magnets in its outer peripheri, then what shoud I enter in VESC tool FOC setup in "Motor Pole" field? Should I enter 28 or should I enter 14?
I mean what is the number expected, the actual no. of magnets or the half of the no. of magnets?
