app config will revert to default @VESC6MKV

Submitted by HIROKI_NAKANO on Tue, 2022-02-01 06:39

The following hardware and tools are used.

VESC6MKV (FW version:5.3)

VESC Tool Free (version:3.01)

After writing app config to the VESC6MKV using the VESC tool, reboot the VESC6MKV will not retain the written app config and will initialize it.

*If I don't power down the VESC6MKV, it will work with the app config I wrote.

Is there any way to fix this?

Motor cogging

Submitted by blox11 on Thu, 2022-01-27 03:07

Hi, I wanted to ask for help with a specific issue I am having. Basically the motor stutters/cogs up and vibrates loudly in certain situations such as: large accelerations, large throttle values, switching from Hall sensors to sensorless mode, reaching certain speeds (usually around top speed). It's a brushless direct drive hub motor for an e-bike, and I haven't experienced this problem with other controllers before. It can happen in both sensored and sensorless mode and at any speed, but it doesn't always happen.

Stormcore 60D+ loses drive on one side

Hi guys,

I have a new Stormcore 60D+ driving 2x hub motors on an off-road e-skate board in FOC mode. I'm using a 10S9P battery.

Key parameters:

Motor current 30A, Braking current -20A, Regen current -20A, Absolute max 200A, FOC settings determined using the test in VESCTool. And yes, both sides have the same settings :)

Powering a Custom Motor With Large Air Gap

Submitted by magma on Mon, 2022-01-24 23:38

Hello,

I am developing a custom motor and am trying to control it with VESC.

The motor works on a normal hobby BLDC controller, but drawn to VESC since I like that it has speed control and FOC built in.

The motor has a large air gap. The magnetic field is about 1/5th as strong as most typical motors. My theory is that the field is not strong enough for the FOC control algorithm to figure out the speed or position of the motor so it ends up just spazzing out.

Here are some videos of me trying to run the motor:
