VESC OpenLoop for didactic application

Hello All,

I want to use VESC to drive some coils so it can illustrate some basic principles of electric motors. I use a coreless disk generator with nine coils in Y connection. I would like to excite this disk so I tried to use foc_openloop_duty from VESC devtools console. It seems to work, but it only last around 1 second. After that it stops generating the rotating magnetic field. Is there any way to set VESC generating this rotating magnetic field for longer times?? Thanks, best regards.

Maker X - SV6 - FOC Detection Issues whatever the FW

Hi there,

It's been a while. I'm finishing my electric assisted Foil and running on 8S 12AH with a Maker X SV6 controller. 

I just can't get it work. it's becoming mystical. I've tried many things but unsuccessful.

either on 5.2 or 5.3 (removing the phase filtering)... the FOC detection fails. 

I've used the hw nolimits but also the standard one.

Did I miss something?

VESC as voltage regulator in hybrid UAV

Hi,

My project consist of hybrid powerplant for UAV, it's ICE generator with 4.4kW spinning BLDC  and 12S Lipo batteries. Currently I stuck with voltage regulation from generator, my main goal is to vary RPM on gas engine depending from load, but then I am getting variable voltage to charge batteries and for system supply. It's around 15-50V range. 
 

As far I know, VESC has regenerative braking, so my Idea was to use it. As bonus, it also can start engine, when running as motor. 

Flipsky motor and flipsky FSESC, can't move when weighted/under load.

I'm new to all this, including this forum, hope this is the right place to post this issue I'm having. So yeah, I'm running a "Flipsky BLDC Belt Motor 6374 190KV 3500W" also a, "FSESC 4.12 50A Based on VESC4.12" and a, 36V 20ah Lithium with a BMS that allows 35amp peak and 30 amp continuous. I've fab'ed the motor onto my son's 4wheeler, its pretty small, weighs 80lbs, he weighs 40lbs, 13 tooth motor sprocket driving a 64 tooth axle sprocket, tires are 12" diameter.

When measuring the res and ind, I fould that the value changes, about the res result, can I say less than 3A is too small to lock when measuring the res, for when larger than 3A, the res result is almost the same.

But about the ind, I really have no idea why it changes in different duty, and it even shifts in same duty.

I used a RCL to test the res and ind between phase to phase, the res should be 0.55 omh and the ind should be 295 uH. Neither matches the result.

FSESC 75100 repair

Hi everybody ! 

I just shorted a phase wire to a Hall sensor wire while throttle applied on a FSESC 75100. All the FETs are good but the FSESC won't turn on.

Do you guys think it may be fixable? And what could be the electrical components to test and change and resolder?

I have a spare 75100 for parts.

Best way to run a hoverboard motor that has an AB encoder and Hall sensors, but no index?

I'm trying to set up to use this motor which apparently has no Index line. I have an FSESC V4.12. and V4.20.

My goal is to get smooth movement at low speed. From barely a crawl to 4 mph, maybe 6 mph tops. So for this wheel that works out to about 300 RPM. I need to avoid cogging.

The robot is also pretty heavy. Full loaded maybe 200 lbs.
