FSESC6.6 and Rpi via UART - Understanding the software

Submitted by gabrielredding on Sat, 2019-07-06 02:50

Hey all. Thanks so much in advance for reading!

I am trying to get to where I can control 4 motors with two of the Dual FSESC6.6.

I am trying to use UART to connect to the first ESC, and then use the CAN bus to connect to the rest.

However, I know that this project is a bit advanced for me. My experience is that I have used UART to pull data from a GPS module, and written custom code to parse it.

How to Write Serial Communication Program Not Applicable to RTOS

Hello, friends, I am a beginner, I do not understand the system, I want to control VESC through the serial port of my stm32f407 development board, but I can not understand the pointer and callback in the routine very well. Can you give me some help? How to write serial interrupt? My own is as follows. Is it true? Thank you.

step by step ebike thorttle setup

Submitted by sindre on Wed, 2019-07-03 17:59

Hi. I am a complete novice in this game and need a few tips. Just bought the fsec4.12 with a flipsky 6354 motor. This is for my kids ebike, custom build, but I have no clue on setting the esc up to use with e-bike throttle. Any tips would be nice, or a point in the right direction on where to start.

Best, Sindre

Something about encoder connection

Submitted by ztwsa007 on Mon, 2019-07-01 13:43

i have two VESC 6.4,when im trying position control,i used both ABI encoder and AS5047 encoder, ABI encoder is easy to connected by the manual,

and it works fine, but when i connect VESC to AS5047,the chip burned,so i think if there is gndloop.

so im wondering should we do not connect gnd?

what's the connecting difference between 3.3V opration and 5V opration?

How we deal with the resistant R1 and R2?in my AS5047 PCB broad there is only C1 and C2.

No Option for Master or Slave on SetUp Input?

Submitted by trickleung91 on Sun, 2019-06-30 09:06

Hello,

Has anybody experienced going through the "Setup Input" and there not being an option for setting up for a master or slave like most tutorials show? When I go through set up, it always proceeds the next step and never populates the option to choose a Master VESC or Slave VESC to configure.

Any assistance?

Take care,

Low duty cycle issues

Submitted by nathantarlinton on Tue, 2019-06-25 03:01

Hi All,

Im currently in the process of trying to run a brushless compressor to chill water. We replaced the original ESC that was supplied, as it was a locked down oem unit, that wasnt suitable for various reasons. After doing so, we seemed to have picked up an issue.

Mostly at low duty cycles (25-30%) the motor seems very unstable, and on occasion will try and draw up to the limits set in the software. Around this range, it will also intermittently seem to stop and start making a high pitched squeal.

ADC TMM Sensor Voltage fluctuation

Submitted by gianni on Sun, 2019-06-23 16:09

Hi,

I have a VESC 6 on my E-Bike, everything works great with a normal thumb throttle and FOC, now i connected the 5V TMM (torque measurement unit) Sensor, the Signal is between 1.6V to 4.9V, i used a Voltage divider to drop the vmax to 3.3V with 10kOhm and 20kOhm. (Because ST32 is not 5V tolerant)

The Problem is that the Signal will depend on my strength on the pedals and the Signal have a lot of fluctuation, the motor turns on / off / on / off the whole time i spinning the crank of the bike.

lower power output than expected

Hello everyone.  I upgraded my razor pocket bike to brushless using the vesc speed control and this motor: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FSVKYQB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_...

the problem is that the power output isn't any better than the stock 350w brushed motor.  I'm not sure if I'm missing a setting, but that doesn't seem right.  the motor is rated at 80A with 120A peak.  I'm running a 24v battery.  any ideas?

5V/serial weirdness when using FOC

Submitted by wihrl on Sat, 2019-06-15 12:57

I'm using a 4.12 VESC in FOC mode to run a 16" hub motor. This works without any problems, but I wanted to display some data on a screen.
For this, I am using a cheap Arduino clone, which is connected to the VESC 5V output and serial. (library in use: https://github.com/SolidGeek/VescUart)
In BLDC mode, everything works the way it should, but when running FOC, the Arduino "freezes" at random times. It only starts updating the screen again upon restarting it.
