VESC 100V 250A - don't reach 50000ERPM

Submitted by tobiokanobi on Tue, 2022-04-12 19:29

Dear VESC supporter and team,

I've bought two VESC 100V/250A, both show on the same motor the same behaviour. I believe it has something to do with my settings:

Goal: Test the Motor Hemotec 135.20; (135kV; 28pole) with props to reach ~3600rpm (3600*14=50400eRPM).

Setup: original setup 2(2x5s in series, each 5000Ah) LiIon Battery each connected to one VESC. Tried also: 3x(2x5s) for a single VESC; sharing ground

Description: FOC Setup works fine. 158A max current for the motor.

Increasing phase amps beyond 300a on 100-250

Submitted by reubarb.scons on Tue, 2022-03-15 07:30

Hi,

I have a QS138 with a VESC 100-250
Vesc tool is preventing me from selecting higher than 300a phase.

It does not give any help as to if this is an artificial limitation or current sensor limitation.

There is a setting under FOC > Advanced > High Current Sampling mode.

Would this allow me to run higher phase current?

Frank seems to say that he has been running over 400a on a gokart a few years back

There is another option which is the no HW limits FW but I would rather not go for that option if possible.

VCC-GND short

Submitted by caliber interconnect on Sat, 2022-02-26 13:10

Hi,

I am using VESC 100/250, we are testing our prototype motor. After detecting the Hall sensor position, we are not able to run the motor. While debugging, we identified that the VCC pin and GND pin are showing short.

Requesting your support to solve this issue.

FSESC 6.6 dual short on 3.3v on 1 side

Submitted by vic1234 on Thu, 2022-02-17 22:33

Hello

My friend tried to connect led through DC DC convertor to the FSESC 6.6 board

And after that 1 of the motors stopped working

After opening the board and checking for shorts

He has short on the 3.3v on one side

But if I conect to usb and vesc tool

I can access both mcu local and can one

Can it be a short in the mcu?

Or if I can access it through vesc tool it isn't possible

How to communication with arduino on vesc via can

Submitted by yuri12 on Tue, 2022-02-08 13:34

Hello.

I wan to check the VESC CAN message with Arduino. When I connected Arduino uno and mcp2515 to the VESC CAN pin, I couldn't get any message. How can I read the message?

And after this is solved, I want to control VESC via CAN communication. Is there anything else I need to modify other than code modification?

Please help me!!!

VESC6 MK5 CAN communication does not work

Submitted by Andy Moon on Tue, 2022-02-08 01:59

Hi! I designed VESC6 MK5 custom board using VESC6 MK5 schematic and all functions work well without any problems and both VESCs use 5.3 version Firmware.

But I tried to control two same boards using CAN communication but I cannot communicate two boards using CAN communication.

It seems the master VESC6 MK5 cannot find the slave VESC6 MK5 when I scan CAN device using VESC tool, I use VESC tool 3.01 version and it shows local CAN device only.
