Bldc generator voltage control

Submitted by Gsorter on Fri, 2022-12-09 23:52

I am building a hybrid drone, using a VESC controlled Flipsky 80100 7kw motor as a generator. I hope to generate 5kw of useful power. I have a 12s1p  35 amp 4000 mah Lion battery (in parallel with the load and with the VESC output) to both buffer the power for big manuevering surge loads, and provide an emergency source should my gas engine die.

I plan on using FOC control, but need to ensure my generator voltage never, ever goes above 50.4 volts (12x4.2v). So, with that in mind,

Why is my VESC Speed (in MPH) half what it should be?

Hi all.

I've just installed an FSESC 4.20 Dual 100A in a WowGo AT2 and everything is running really nice so far.

The only thing I can't figure out is why my MPH speed display is halved...

Im using a Maytech MTSKR2005WF controller over UART. On this controller you can have it display the data its getting over UART, like Speed, Voltage, Mosfet Temps, Distance traveled, etc...

Power cutoff without any warning

So I have recently built an euc from scratch and I decided to use a flipsky 75100 running off a 13s battery. Well my first problems arose instantly when I couldn't get the motor to turn with keyboard controls only it making god awful sounds. Well I managed to get it to work with the balance app usign a mpu6050 external gyro/accel. Then I started having issues of it randomly starting to tip over and when I got this to happen while connected to my computer the live gyro reading were showing the angle was way out of wack and the accel was reading -8 g's in each direction.

How to avoid engine overheating?

I have a citycoco electric tricycle. Where I live there are many mountains. When going up a hill, my engine overheated and is no longer working. Does the vesc have a way to prevent overheating? Does the vesc need a temperature sensor to prevent overheating? My engine doesn't seem to have a temperature sensor, can you suggest one? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I have a 2000W Citycoco Fat Tire X11 electric tricycle. However, where I live, there are many mountains. I want to add another engine at the front to make it more powerful. Can anyone give me a tip? Is there any difference between the front and rear engines? For example, I couldn't find the front engine for sale on Aliexpress.

VESC Logo

hello everyone.  my son and I just converted his OneWheel over to running VESC.  it was quite a project for us but i must say, the results are better than expected.  The board is better than stock in every aspect.  however, i wanted to make him a Tshirt for Christmas with the VESC logo on it.  so my question is a. is that OK and b. is there a JPG or some other image file available i can use to print it for him?

thank you

hello everyone,

I try to configure my edf turbine in vesc tool bldc mode but it's only return error. I'm using a Dual FSESC6.6 Based upon VESC6 200A with a LiPo 6S 70C.

I need to configure the eprm for 208800 ERPM too. I know that the vesc6 only suport 160000erpm, but if someone managed to set up an edf i appreciate the help.

Completely disabling regen current possibility on vesc

Submitted by riraheta on Tue, 2022-11-29 01:48

If an external source spins a motor to a speed higher than the maximum duty cycle allows, will it start braking?

If an external source spins a motor to a speed higher than the commanded velocity, will it start braking?

If I have 0 Motor current max brake AND 0 battery current max regen current, what might still be causing energy to go back onto the bus?

Long story short, I want to completely disable the possibility of putting energy onto the bus at all.  What parameters can be modified to do this?
