VESC Tool

Hi all,

Just started with the excellent new and improved  VESC tool but had the same issue with the BLDC_tool before. Seems for me the position function isn't working as expected. If I turn it on the motor makes a terrible noise and shakes like a pollaroid picture on steroids. 

-Motor : Racerstar 6056 140 KV

-Sensored (i expect hall sensor as there is no explicit mention anywhere about the type of sensors this has (has 5 threaded sensor cable coming from the motor)

-Calibrated as FOC

Any thoughts?

While I used VESC-tool to upgrade firmware from 3.27 to 3.28, the motor started and made strange and loud noises.  I should probably have disconnected the motor first.   I think VESC-tool should disable output stage before flashing.

Observations:

I have used the HW 4.10 in the past and now wanted to reuse it with the newest version. But the motor does never move. There are a few odd things I can't tell which the root cause is. Hence let me list the steps...

I have successfully set up BLDC mode and had few great rides.

When detecting FOC I get error R is 0 Please measure it first..

As anyone successfully compiled the VESC-Tool for Raspbian (using the Raspberry Pi 3)?  I tried following the instructions provided in the source code, but i'm running into issues when running the ./configure command for qt:

What settings should I look at to increase the startup torque of the motor in FOC please?  With the encoder it is very smooth but I would like to maximise the torque available at low speed.

In the tool additional info is a space the enter motor poles.  Is this stator poles or rotor poles, e.g. number of windings or number of magnets?  Could we have both?

Line 384 in vescinterface.cpp should be changed to  this so that windows can identify the right port automatically.

Because windows identifies the manufacturer as "STMicroelectronics." with a dot at the end.

I've just seen Trampa says there is a new version available.

How to know you are downloading the new version?

The name seems to unchanged.
