Just looking for some advice. Configured motors on the VESC and all semeed well, they spin when testing. Unfortunately, when I try to accelerate using the remote (board is upside down), the wheels just turn a quarter, stop, and the remote beeps. Links of setup are attached. Advice would be great!

Motors: 

If one has a controller that does not offer a reverse switch input when the speed input is analog (such as from a twist throttle), could a DPDT switch be installed in two of the motor phase power lines to reverse the motor direction?  What I am wondering in particular is if such a scheme would mess up the controller/motor calibration or some-such thing when reverse is selected?

I'm thinking in particular about one of the Flipsky controllers which, as I understand it, only provides motor reverse thru the PPM input (which a twist throttle does not have).

I was measuring the resistance of a hoverboard motor using a VESC 6 MKIII. The value I get is about 140 mΩ.

I also tested the motor directly on my power supply. 0.4 V phase-phase gives 1 Amp, meaning the phase-zero resistance is about 200 mΩ (400 mV / 1 A / 2).

Hello all, new member here.  I have an electric ATV (Venom E-Grizzly) for which I'd like to add a smoother, quieter controller.  The Flipsky unit is available locally and appears to be capable enough so it looks like it might be suitable.  However, I have no info available on the ATV motor other than the vendor claims its a 3,000 W (there are no markings on it al all).  The controller (also of unknown manufacturer) is rated at 1,500 W.  I have sent the manufacturer of the ATV (Yongkang Eagle Motor Co) a request for info but I not received a reply and doubt I will get an

Hi all, 

I have been using a VESC to control a motor which I am using as a (sort of) generator. The motor in question is coupled to a larger AC motor which drives it, and I am investigating how well the motor/VESC setup can follow brake demands. 

The motor is powered by a bench power supply, and has circuitry built in so that when the VESC is braking, the power is sent through to a dump resistor. This has been working perfectly so far however I have now found a few problems I'm hoping someone can help me with.

Got my first beginner electric skateboard a week ago, mind blown wish I got one ages ago...but realized after day 1 that I'm gonna need more.

Spent a bit of time reading up about VESC and think it's pretty clear that VESC is better than the hobbywing ESC...but could someone please explain. the average VESC amp rating is upwards of 50A while hobbywing ESC is only around 12.5 amps but they can both run the same size (power rating) motors? How is that possible? Thanks in advance.
