I’m using a 4.12 VESC and having some issues. The motor will not start until a small kick is applied from a full stop. For example, in the initial motor calibration wizard using VESC Tools, after you press fwd to test direction (to determine whether to invert phase wires) and you press rev afterward, the motor just stalls. Even after the motor is full configured, the throttle does nothing (using ADC input) unless I “kick” off the scooter.

I've been developing hardware around the DRV8353RS. The registers seem identical to the already supported DRV8323R so I made some hardware configuration files based on the HD files to test with. The problem is that at power up the controller doesn't make it through the full boot process and blinks the fault LED. Additionally, I have fault LED being driven from the DRV8353RS fault pin. The controller fault light is blinking and the DRV fault light is on. USB does not connect so I'm not able to pull fault codes via the VESC tool terminal.

Hi, I'm a senior in Aerospace Engineering and unfortunately I'm a bit lacking experience with electronics. I'm currently rapid prototyping submarines to optimize for range, and as far as the electronics go I've been a bit lost. The experimental setup is as follows; I fix my model submarine to a guide rail underwater and set the propeller to specific RPM. I measure the value of velocity and current drawn by the motor. What I've been stuck on is how I can set a Brushless Motor to a specific RPM, and how to read in the current to an Arduino.

I would like to hook up and control the VESC6 plus to an adafruit PWM signal driver https://www.adafruit.com/product/815

The connections on the PPM is too small, so how would I do this? Anybody has a link to an Amazon page where I can buy such a cable with female servo wires to the female VESC6 specific connector.

How should the GPdrive mode be used?

Is it possible to create an adjustable AC current with an adjustable frequency through a variable load? So I would only use 2 of the 3 cables.

I am very new to electronics in general, so please bear with my questions if they sound very obvious. 

Since I finished building my prototype dual-double scooter motor powerboard about a month ago, I have been super happy with its performance. But I have had a bit of a bug in the system. I believe that bug is caused by stator saturation, but I would like if Frank or Benjamin or any of the more knowledgeable members could give me their opinion of whats going on.

Hello, i just switched to foc mode after riding my electric skateboard in bldc mode for some time, and my torque reduced dramatically, is it normal for foc or did configure something wrong?

I am very new to this exciting field but am being rather frustrated by being unable to connect to the third party VESC (412 firmware according to the markings on the PCB) and my laptop which is running Windows 7.

So far I have tried 3 different USB cables but I always get the same kind of response from the VESC Tool, ie ' No ports found' or, ' Could not auto connect. make sure USB cable plugged in and that the VESC is powered.'  The laptop makes an unusual audible note which I guess reinforces the fact that it can't make a connection.

I am having trouble pairing the Trampa Wand with the Trampa BLE module. I have updated the firmware on both the Wand and the BLE using SWD. This seemed to work ok. Using the pairing instructions, when I go to the pairing screen and turn on the Wand it just times out.
