Hi
I have problems get the VESC motor controller to drive the TP100 inrunner motor:

Here is a video try to get the motor working in Sensorless mode. I have tryed small inrunner/large inrunner, hub motor. so on
I only turn trottle up 5% and the motor automatic raps itself up to full speed. So it only work like on/off. Revers do not work at all
I have a 60A ESC from china, it works fine with cheap brushless controllers.
You have the controller set to current control mode. Set it to duty cycle mode and the speed will be easier to control.
Hi
Yes, thanks now all work fine, revers too! :)
Hi
I did a test run with a small 15" boat today. 7 knots!
I had it running:
100A on battery load, 200A motor current.
Duty cycle was about 90%.
About 5000W of power.
But i want 200A battery load, i can use a smaller propeller. But will i get 200A on motor current ?
Also, when i hit a wave at 90% duty cycle, the extra load made the VESC to turn off. And i had to return the trottle back to nutral. And then i can start up again.
Some mode the VESC just deliver what it can, but dont stop ?
You should probably use current control mode, and not duty mode. Duty cycle control is almost never useful in practical applications. Current control gives torque control, which explains why the motor spins up to full speed when there is no load. That is the expected and desired behavior.
Regarding the current at full modulation, I think you have to go to the General > Current page and increase the battery current to 200A.
ok i can change to curren controll mode. Motor and battery current is set to 220A. I was driving the boat at 195-200A and a wave hit the boat, current then is 220A+ and motor controller turn off. Then i have to set trottle to nutral and can start up again.
