Is it possible to configure VESC to ignore the remote control signal, for example, depending on the state of a circuit coupled to a REED switch?
Is there a command I can issue to VESC based on the state of REED switch, so I can disable VESC response to the PWM control signal?

I found it. For anyone else. The functionality I was looking for is called a kill switch.
"You can wire that into PPM or ADC2. If you use the latest BETA VESC-Tool, you will find a kill switch function in App Settings >> General. You can choose PPM low, PPM high, ADC 2 low, ADC2 high."
@gazlinux did you get the kill to work and did you use PPM or ADC2. I have tried ADC2 and it did not seem to work.
