hybrid helicopter engine vesc6 bldc settings

hi

trying to make hybrid engine motor

rewounded u12 motor(270kv now)

i need to start engine(vesc works like a starter) i need to generate power (vesc works like generator) and i need to help engine(vesc works like e helper)

generator ok and helper ok

with start is some problems(in bldc mode i set 60-80 motor amps and it starts 9from10 times but if i set higer it glitching )(i dont use halls(too many weak points in halls))

video of glitch

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yubz-s-eCwI

i set min swithc freq to from 3,00 to 8,00khz (on 3.00 and 60phase it starts 5 from 10 times)

what other settings i can set to make it work on 100+phase?( i will need more torqe in the future)

thanks

Hello artteth,

I have exactly the same project, I have tested with a 32cc two stroke, and it starts without problems with no halls but i think your system is more difficult than ours, your engine seems big for this generator.

it starts on 70 phase amps but its glithes on 70+

now its ok on 70 but in cold weather motor will need more torque to start engine

witt hall or encoder all will work but it will be too much small whires and they can brake from vibrations

I would recommend trying a lower Kv motor to get more stall torque. Cool project!

If the small hall sensor wires snapping is the problem I know that issue all too well. Why they put microscopic hall wires on those hobby motors I will never know. I bought some of these to replace the junk onboard hall sensors on an alien power systems motor:

I can see your reluctance to use the hall sensors as it would never need them after the engine is started.

Did you manage to get it working?
