Hi,
I have an R/C car, it uses direct drive, so no transmission ratio. The motors (400kV) are set to use 40A on driving, it works like charm, the brake power is -25A and it's very weak. The max regen value is -5A but I'd like to reduce it to zero, because in the car I don't have any BMS. How can I achieve larger brake force? Increase the regen ampers? Thanks
You don´t make clear if you are talking about phase amps or battery amps. Never use 0A for regen for battery current as it will make funny things. You wont risk anything as you can not overcharge your battery by braking, no bms needed if you later on charge it with balancer cable. Just increase phaseamps and battery amps to solve your problem.

The -25A is the max brake power in the setup. My car has 4 of these motors with 4 vescs controlled through can bus. I tested the car with -40 amps max motor brake power and with -40 amps max battery regen (thats 160 amps on max by the 4 motors) .... the brake power was still not enough for a 5 kg car and the 4 cell lipo overall voltage dropped from fully charged to 13.8v after a short throttle / brake test session. Later the battery voltage increased back to 15,8v but it's not good for the battery i'm sure...

One more thing: my motors are sensorless

Increase Phase amps and lower battery amps. You can go higher with phase amps than battery amps.

Thanks, I will test it
