Hello,
I'm trying to play around with VESC firmware on an STM32F4 Discovery board (that uses an STM32f407VET6 MCU). My grand goal is to eventually build a separate power stage and use this board as "the brain" running VESC. However, I got stuck as the very first step: making VESC-Tool recognize the board.
So far this is what I have done. There is no power stage, etc. yet. I'm just using the board itself:
1. Flash the board with vesc bootloader here: https://github.com/vedderb/bldc-bootloader
2. Flash the board with vesc firmware here: https://github.com/vedderb/bldc
3. Connect Mini USB (which has power and st-link builtin), and connect micro USB (for communicate with vesc-tool) from the board to my computer
The problem is that my computer doesn't recognize that there is an extra USB peripheral. And of course VESC-Tool doesn't see the device either. I have tried this on both Windows and Mac to no avail.
I have searched around the forum and it seems that running VESC on the Discovery board should be doable (https://vesc-project.com/node/1664) or (https://vesc-project.com/node/323) but there is no further instruction on how to do so.
Have anyone been successful at this? Or am I missing something here? I'm new to electronics and would appreciate a lot for any pointers.
Thanks,
I tried to learn it, you share it great, thanks for the article. driving directions
