Cant seem to update my firmware on my VECS.

So i bought my VESC from DIYectricskatebaords and when i connect it to my PC i get this error “The connect VESC has to old firmware. Since the connect VESC has firmware with bootloader support, it can be update from the firmware page. Until then limited communication mode will be used where only the firmware can be changed. I then go into the firmware page and update it which takes around 10 seconds. When the update is done i get the message that the update has been successful. This is the message " Firmware upload finished! Give thh VESC around 10 seconds to apply the firmware and reboot, then reconnect” I can’t really see that the VESC restarts but when i try to reconnect it i get the same message that the VESCs firmware is to old. Is there anything wrong with my VESC or am i doing something wrong?

I've also tried updating the bootloader but that seems to have the same problem

I’ve prob tried updating it 15 times now.

This is the VESC im using:

I have the exact same issue.

Trampa Board, 2x VESC HW60, FW 3.57, will only connect in limited mode (whatever this means). I can go through the firmware update successfully but at next reboot I will get the same message (old firmware).

Any suggestions?

You may have bricked your VESCs; if so, you will have to flash them using an ST-LINK and follow the instructions detailed here > https://vesc-project.com/comment/225#comment-225

You will then be able to update your FW again.

If using the VESC app be careful NOT to upload the bootloader, as this will brick your VESCs (again); see here, e.g. https://vesc-project.com/node/1342

Same issue.

Is the only fix the one shown using ST-Link?

I think that the VESC tool is just saying that it is not completely compatible with the "old" firmware. You either need to update with the latest firmware or use an older version of the tool. Notice that the lower right area shows the "Supported Firmwares". My Vesc Tool is showing 3.61, and my firmware is 3.58, but everything works fine - at least the few things I have tried in the tool.

Of course I talk to myself. Sometimes I need expert advice.
