External speed sensor

Hi

I use a VESC to run my ebike mid drive. I would really like to be able to limit the speed of the bike to legal level in EU (25 km/h), but since it is a mid drive, the gearing is constantly changing and the current speed limit strategy is not suitable.

That's why I ask that the feature to use an external hall-type speed sensor would be added.

this would also be very useful for use with brushed motors since there is no speed feedback on them.

Hi, I want to refresh topic - I'm building next electric kickbike. In my first vehicle I used geared hub motor and in next I also plan to use same type.
The problem with geared motor is recording speed - using only hall sensors controller gets only information of motor speed - not wheel. Both speed can be different because this type of motor have one-direction clutch so using only hall sensor when you aren't using motor (downhill for example) motor speed is 0 km/h. Because of that in hub there is extra sensor (simple magnet based sensor) for measuring hub speed. KT controller is using that speed.

I'm planning to use now new flipsky 75100 and it doesn't have input for that sensor (I ask flipsky team).

Do you have any idea to is it posisble to connect that sensor without any extra microcontroller to VESC? Programming is not a problem for me.
