Thank for the reply.... Considering the BLDC motor nature, I do believe VESC will work on these.
(I chose VESC to build most of the robots because it support DC,BLDC.... I can basically plug every mid-small scale motor I found in the lab and make it work)
However, during the calibration process of VESC on normal BLDC motor, the motor will rotate itself. So in your case, I think the linear motor will move left and right for a little bit.
That might be a problem...? (or maybe not)? I am not quite sure

same... very curious.... what is the model and price of this linear motor?
This motor is 0905 model. these motors are not cheap. above 100USD mark. Some motors goes up to 1000 usd.
