Troubleshooting Newborn VESC

Got my newborn VESC running. Everything seems to be working. The only thing is a bit scratchy noise when I slowly open the throttle at about 2-4% and leave it there.

It sounds almost like an engine misfiring on a car. If I twist it quickly, the motor bypasses that region and works normally.  Below is the video showing what's happening.

Has anyone dealt with this issue before?

What mode are you running in? FOC? Sounds like it could be the openloop portion below the openloop ERPM.

I was testing in FOC. This seems to be at higher PWM frqencies (above 20kHz) and with dead time being set above 1000ns.

Setting deadtime to lower values and running at 20Khz makes it run smooth. FOC seems to be easier to detect and run.

BLDC need mode needs very specific RPM and current set to pass detection.
