Auto power shut down

Is it possible for VESC with push button on/off anti-spark switch to have auto power off?. Can this be implemented?

That is a matter  oft the switch design. It's possible to design such a switch.

Thank you for your reply. That type of switch is already available. The trick is to be integrated into VESC. and my logic tells me that it is doable. Most likely not that hard for someone with experience.

This would require an Hardware modification.

Could be really simple like grounding EN_BUCK pin of DRV8301 for disabling power on the MCU part, I guess.

That would release EN_GATE, thus letting DRV8301 go into low-power mode (20-50 uA).

But what about CAN bus connection between 2 VESCs if only one shut his buck converter off and not the other one ?

Hi

as alternative you could use a so-called "ideal diode" (basically a FET used the "wrong" way). The implementation is done in a electronic relay. You could as well integrate a softstart if you cool the FET. All done with only 2EUR investment for a 40A version: FET, two resistors, one small e-cap, +small heatsink (depending on your softstart-time).

Cheers
