Boat indexed throttle - how to connect and what resistance

Hi,
I am building a boat trolling motor (VESC 4.12 Maytech, SK3 6374 192kV, starter gearbox, Pb accus) and I would like to control speed with a "e-boat" indexed throttle. I thought about using a rotary switch like https://uk.farnell.com/lorlin/ck1049/switch-1-pole-12-pos-0-15a-250v/dp/... with various resistors. In the ADC Mapping I would set the center so there would be 8 forward and 3 reverse.

1. Is the Duty Cycle Reverse Center proper type?
2. How to connect it? Should I similarly to http://vedder.se/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/VESC_ADC_Button.png
place 10k between 3.3V and GND and switch resistors between 3.3V and ADC_EXT?
3. What range/steps of resistors should I use?
4. Will ramping time “filter” drops during switching?

Thanks
