What temerpature sensor and how do I use it?

I have a motor with hall effect sensors, but no temp sensor. I was actually thinking of using the temp sensor input from the vesc 6 to monitor my battery temp, since my motor never gets very warm, but my battery is getting very hot.

Can anyone recommend a temp sensor that could be used with the vesc for this?

I saw someone recommend the Farnell NTCLG100E2103JB in another thread, but I don't see how that is to be wired up.

Any help is much appreciated. Would really like to see what's going on and limit current output when it gets hot before I destroy my $600 headway battery pack.

Thank you in advanced!

You can use any 10k @ 25 degree C NTC you want. You can configure the NTC specific beta value of the NTC in the VESC Tool.

So something like this would work then?

https://www.amazon.com/OCR-Waterproof-Digital-Thermal-Temperature/dp/B01...

Also, what about about wiring? The way I've seen these used is in-line to turn something off and on based on the temp. The vesc has 1 pin for the temp sensor, so how do I wire this?

A bit big but if it matches your application than you can use it. You should wire it between TEMP and GND. Beta value is 3950
