External Wheel speed sensor

So. About 3 days ago my flipsky Vesc 75100 pro v2 got delivered  everything went well, I connected it to my Bafang g340 midrive motor.

It also works well with the internal 4-pin PAs sensor connected to the RX and TX. But the problem is that in Germany there's a 25km/h speed limit or limit for e-bikes. And since I have an 8-speed , so I can forget about the ERPM limit, which would restrict me in every gear, and the motor would start vibrating as soon I reach the RPM limit.

That's why I wanted to connect a 3-pin Hall, or rather these classic sensors with magnets, to the rim.

Then I asked Ki what i needed to do it told me to wire the singal cable from the sensor to the PPM pin on the vesc and had him write me a Lisp script. Well, that didn't work and almost bricked my Vesc.

I have good Knowledge about mechanics and electricity, but I'm a complete noob and a beginner when it comes to coding

I'm very happy with the controller; I'm amazed at how it performs, even with my old 36-volt battery, and I want to try and get it working with the sensor. I hope someone can help me, and I would be very grateful
