Sensorless FOC - cogging unless temp comp ON

Hi,

I have an outrunner motor for a foil assist setup, using FOC sensorless, no temp sensor installed or configured.  This generally runs well aside from some cogging at low throttle and from zero speed; logs show a large (but very brief) current spike whenever the cogging occurs, even exceeding the max open loop current.  If I set "temp comp" ON, the cogging goes away.  Is this expected?  Should I continue running like this, or is there a better permanent solution?
