High res ABI encoder on Vesc not working

Hello everyone,
with the help of gearing get a high res ABI encoder giving me 1179648 counts per one revolution on the motor. I still get an index count every 65536 counts. My goal is to make a very precise motor. I have a FSEC6.7 Pro and a motor with around 150kV or so. I still can't get the FOC to work. Whenever i enter encoder counts above 65536 into the vesc tool (i am using V 6.06) the software seems to have a bug. In the realtime data display when observing the encoder it only jumps between 0-20 degrees. Could it be that the internal software counter or the counter on the microcontroller in the vesc are only 16 bit registers? I can not find PID parameters to make it work, so I assume it is something else... With another ABI encoder with "only" 65536 counts per revolution, everthing works fine.

Looking forward for any indea/help/advice!
Best regards,

James
