Query: Can I run my 70-pole motor using a VESC-based Flipskey controller?

Hey guys
Hope all of you are doing well

I was looking into vesc-based Flipskey controllers to run my 72V 6kW PMSM.

I previously purchased a sine-wave controller from Golden Motors (controller model : EZ-B144400, rated at 144 V dc bus voltage, and 400 A phase current), but it was unable to run the motor. It did it's "self-learning" but wasn't able to run the motor with any significant power (speed/torque). It would rotate slowly and create a lot of noise. Their team wasn't able to help with it much either, and we concluded that it could be to do with the high pole-pairs of the motor.

I am assuming that these off-the-shelf controllers are built for popularly used 4-pole brushless motors. I had an old 48V 4-pole BLDC and the Golden Motors controller was able to run it easily on the very first go.

Now I have turned to VESC and I am looking into this 84V 200A Flipskey controller. Will I face a similar issue in running the motor using this? Can you guys provide some suggestions. I will share the exact motor parameters here:

  1. Battery DC voltage: 72
  2. Continuous Power (kW): 6.0
  3. Peak Power (kW): 8.5
  4. Max. Speed (rpm): 1000
  5. Peak shaft torque (Nm): 190
  6. Stall Torque (N-m): 250
  7. Back-EMF Constant (Peak line-Line): 109 V/krpm
  8. No. of Poles: 70

If anyone has ran a similar motor using a VESC-based controller, kindly share your suggestions. I just want to be able to run the motor at a decent enough speed with some load for now. I am not looking for any crazy performance testing.

Thank you!
Best Wises
