Repurposed Hyundai Ioniq HSG Hybrid Starter Generator as motor - crunching/cogging

Wanted to see if anyone had any advice for getting this setup working cleanly on my build.  The "motor" is a Hyundai Ioniq HSG.  I removed the resolver and installed a hall effect sensor setup in place of it.

I simply machined the orignial pulley down to a flange, then bored a sprocket and welded it to make a sprocket for the setup.

The setup packaged nice in the RM250 frame I'm using.

I'm using a flipsky 75350 ESC with the unlocked firmware.

The problem I'm having is trying to get the motor to run smoothly in sensored/hall effect mode.  When I started out, I had some bad errors on the alignment.  But loosening up the tooth wheel and adjusting it has gotten the hall_analyze results happy.

I'm guessing the key to getting this to run smoothly in sensor mode is mainly going to be on the FOC section for the hall effect setup.  But I'm kinda at a loss where/what do to there.  I've read and tried some suggestions of changing the field resistance value and adjusting the gain.  But it seems the changes have minimal impact on the motor running smoothly.

Has anyone else repurposed one of these HSGs?  If so, what values did you find best to work with VESC?
