motor not running smoothly, it makes little "steps"

Hi there!

I'm trying to configure the following motor:

BLDC with 14 poles, 750KV, here you can see a picture and measurements:
I use it with a 4S 1500mAH LiPo
The motor doesn't have any sensor such as hall sensor

I configure it with the "Setup Motor FOC" button in Welcome & Wizards tab.
The configuration runs without any problem ranging from low RPM to high RPM, I put use the Mini Outrunner preset since has the same motor poles (14)

I get the following values:
VESC ID:70

Motor Current: 12,66A

Motor R: 83.20 mΩ

Motor L: 22.05 µH

Motor Lq-Ld: 1.49 µH

Motor Flux Linkage 0.00mWb

Temp Comp: False

Sensors: Sensorless

The problem comes when i try to control it with the Duty Control or the Current Control, that the motor runs but with little steps and not smoothly whereas in the configuration procces it runs really smoothly at low and high RPMs
Any idea why this is the case?
Thanks in advance!

When motor flux linkage is 0, then you have to do the wizard again or turn off phase filters on some Flipsky controllers. You can manually do the detection in the FOC General Tab.

Hi electricfox! Thanks for your reply!

I went over the "Setup Motor FOC" wizard again and this time i get Motor Flux Linkage: 44,821 mWb

Also i get the following parameters:

Motor Current: 12,66A

Motor R: 83.20 mΩ

Motor L: 21.78 µH

Motor Lq-Ld: 1.55 µH

Motor Flux Linkage 44,821 mWb

Temp Comp: False

Sensors: Sensorless

However, i still get the motor turning with little steps

This is a screenshot of the VESC tool where you can see the steps I am talking about. This is just me pressing the up arrow (show current control at 10A) but the same happens with duty cycle control.

I'm using the motor with a 1500 mAH 4S battery, could that be the problem?

The battery is 45C and max60c discharge if this could be important.

Thanks for your help
