replacing in wheel controler with vesc 6 mk vi?

Hello there,

I drive a electric bike from Rayvolt. Sadly at the moment the bike is dead. No indicated Lights on the SOC Leds and no motor spin.

This bike has a 1000 W motor in the back wheel with an integrated controller. I have a spare Wheel (with Controller) and had a litle look over this. Now i think about replacing this proprietary controller with an vesc 6. But is it the right choice? Is it compatible at all? What do I have to change on the Bike?

1. My battery should be a 13S (54.6V / 4.2V = 13). The Controller is rated with max 12 cells and 60 Volts. So for my understanding it should do. the 12S limit is for battery types with higher voltage. Right or du I miss here something?

2. The Controller simply fires the three phases. There is no Sensor for speed or RPM involved. Under https://trampaboards.com/vesc-6-mkvi--trampa-gives-you-maximum-power-p-3... there is a motorsensor involved. Is this optional or do I need something here?

3. My PAS is a not labeled sensor. It has 4 Pin Jullet connector. I have to investigate the pinout and if it is a Quadrature PAS (the whole bike has unused wires and pins so i would not be surprised, if there is simply a pin not in use). How can I find out, what this is? Any Arduino Hacking pissibilitys or something? What is commonly used Voltage on such sensors?

edit: It is a simple one wire PAS. Running with 5 Volts. The second dataline is indeed connected to the Controller but also to the Thumb Gas. Seems odd.

4. The whole configuration must be done clean and save. Are there any tutorials or something ... maybe just a checklist. Especially what I have to set for PAS, motor, recuperation.

Thanks in advance and sorry for a whole beginner questions. Actually I investigate possibilities on getting my bike back to work and hope on some technical improvements but I am new to E-Bike electronics (but on some parts it is similar to my rc plane motors and stuff).
