Hello everyone,
I am currently facing an issue with connecting VESC Express via TCP using the iOS VESC Tool app and would appreciate any advice or insights from the community.
Background:
I am using VESC Express and have successfully established a connection via direct WiFi TCP with the macOS VESC Tool. Everything works perfectly on my Mac, and I'm able to control and monitor my setup without any issues.
Problem:
When attempting the same with the iOS VESC Tool app, I am unable to connect via WiFi TCP. I’ve tried multiple configurations, but I’m still unable to establish a connection. The app doesn’t seem to recognize or communicate with the VESC Express device over the network. I'm wondering if there is a step or configuration I might be missing specifically for iOS.
Things I’ve Tried:
- Ensuring both the iOS device and VESC Express are on the same WiFi network.
- Checking the TCP settings on both the VESC Tool app and VESC Express.
- Verifying that the port number and IP address are correctly entered in the iOS app.
- Restarting both the VESC Express device and the iOS device.
- Looking for any relevant documentation or similar issues reported online.
Questions:
- Has anyone successfully connected to VESC Express via TCP using the iOS VESC Tool app? If so, could you share the steps or settings that worked for you?
- Are there any specific network settings or permissions required on iOS that might be blocking the TCP connection?
- Could this be a limitation or compatibility issue with the iOS version of the VESC Tool app?
Any suggestions, guidance, or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated! I’m eager to get this working on iOS, as it would make my setup more versatile and convenient.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Best regards,
Johannes
1.Yes. What you describe sounds correct. What mode are you using? Acces or Station mode? Did you make sure to disconnected Wifi to Express on your mac before connecting wifi on your iOs device? Make sure to close the Vesctool iOS App, connect mobile wifi to Express and then open the VEsctool iOS App.
2.No
3.In general 6.05 is compatible with lower versions. Make sure you dont have a beta firmware version on your VESC devices. This will cause problems.

Hi electricfox, thank you for your reply.
I´m not using the beta firmware.
I tried both modes, station and access point and made sure to disconnect all other devices before. Still no success.
Only the TCP Hub mode works. But routing the data to vedder.se and back again is a bit odd in this case...
