Hello,
We are trying to run a PMSM motor on STR500, which was purchased recently, and are facing issues to make it work.
On the other hand, we have 75/300 vesc on which the motor works great!
Following are the issues faced on STR500:
1. During the 'Run Detection' it takes around 40 amps whereas the 75/300 takes only about 10 amperes.
2. For the same ERPM and supply voltage the motor when run on str500 takes 40 amperes whereas the same motor when run on 75/300 takes only 12 amperes.
3. I am also trying to use an AS5047 encoder. The encoder just works fine on 75/300. Whereas the str500 does not detect the encoder.
For the same we even tried to detect the encoder manually from the FOC tab. It rotates and then goes into a loop and the VESC tool goes unresponsive.
4. After RUN DETECTION both show different motor currents for the same motor.
5. While running on STR500 after about 50% duty cycle, it hits the ABS_OVER_CURRENT for no reason and the str500 stops. Whereas for 75/300 it runs on very low current.
6. At higher duty cycles near about 45+, there is a lot of fluctuation in the duty cycle and irregular current graph when run on STR500.
7. When run on STR500, the motor generates a lot of noise and vibrations, whereas the operation on 75/300 is very smooth.
8. Also, when we remove the motor from cruise, the duty cycle suddenly ramps up to maximum duty cycle.
Hi,
which motor are you using? Are you using the same voltage on both VESC's? Those 2 motor controllers are a bit different hardwarewise so its possible they will behave a bit differently depending on your motor. Check the STR500 manual on trampaboards website for the encoder. You can easiliy adjust the current in the manual detection. Detection values itself should be close to same on both VESC´s.
