Configuring VESC for brushed motors

I have a VESC 6 EDU from here: https://trampaboards.com/vesc-six-education--with-imu-p-34332.html

I am trying to get it to run a brushed DC motor. I reset the configuration to default, set motor type to DC, uploaded the motor configuration, and tried to run the motor through vesc tool. The duty cycle as reported by the VESC was 95%, however the motor did not run. I measured voltage across all pairs of of motor output and each pole to ground, and they were all off. I have the motor connected to A and C, and confirmed that it works with a benchtop power supply. If I set it to FOC the motor wines, and I have used the VESC to control brushless motors.

Any ideas on how to configure it to run? Or is there a different issue here?

Thanks!

Patrick

Hi Patrick,
I am trying the exact same thing with a VESC6 EDU and a brushed DC motor with ABI encoder.

encoder is read out flawlessly
so PID control in DC mode would be great
I can get some rotation driving it in FOC mode but at low RPM and no active PID control...

did you get your motor running in DC mode?

thanks
