Dutycyle dropping under load

Hello friends,

I have a weird problem, that I cannot find a solution for.

I am driving a 350W/36V Ebike Motor with a VESC 4.10, Fw 5.2 in BLDC-Mode. App: UART + ADC, Duty Cycle Control Mode.

Now, when I input max voltage to ADC1 (100%) and I apply a load to my motor (by using manual brake on my test stand), of course the phase current increases up to around 6-8 amps, but the duty cycle is automatically lowered. The Input to ADC ist still 100%.

After releasing the load, the duty cycle increases very slowly.

Now my questions:

1.) Why does the VESC reduce the duty cycle under load? How can I change that? The current limit settings are not violated. (Settings: 30A Motor Max, 40A Abs Max, 20A Battery max). Due to this behaviour, the motor has way to less torque and power. On max load, it only powers about 80Watts which is a 6th of what i can power.

2.) Why does it take so long to increase the duty cycle back to setpoint 100%? Which parameter(s) affect that?

I added two pictures to show you the issues. To make the load-sitation more clear, I painted purple lines into the plots which represent the brake/load. Please don't refer to the absolute values. I also painted the setpoint (ADC1 input) as orange lines.

I hope you can understand everything and would be happy for every hint. Please don't hesitate to ask, if something is not clear or you need further information.

Enjoy your time :)

Julian
