Hello All,
Very new to all this, and willing to learn .
Please forgive me for a probably very basic question, and thank you for your help :
I am using Vesc Tool 6.02 with a brand new Trampaboard VESC 6/75 to (try to) control a Crystalite SAW 20 motor with Hall sensors. So far so good, I have been able to connect to the VESC from the PC, saw that the VESC is correctly running Vesc 60 75 Mk2 FW. I then ran the wizard, changed a few settings in order to disable Regen for the time being (I am powering up from a lab power supply set to 48V and don't want to send it back power), and could get the motor to run quite smoothly in FOC mode from the Duty and Amp settings at the bottom of the Vesc Tool screen.
However, when I try to set a RPM and click the small arrow, the motor stops, if it was running, or does nothing if it was stopped. The Duty Sweep and Current sweep Experiments also work, but the RPM sweep doesn't seem to do anything.
Question : What do I need to do to activate the RPM control / mode ?
OK, so I came back to my test setup this morning, and, voila ! RPM is now working
Only trouble is that I don't know why : I've tried to lower the PID gains, following the advice given in some posts, but this didn't do any good, so I came back to the default settings. I tried some more, and the motor started to respond to RPM commands from the Vesc-Tool interface. It's not 100%, sometimes I have to nudge the motor to get it started. I'd like to understand what's going on, and how to fine tune settings for this motor. If someone could point me to a good resource on how to do this, I'd appreciate.
Thank you !
