On the A200S, every time I try to set my motor type to DC it bricks my unit and I have to reflash the firmware. I am using a modified version of the 75_300 configuration. Also how are you supposed to debug the firmware? The guide is very old now.

Turns out it actually works fine. However you require to be over the low voltage limit or the firmware will freeze. So the firmware is clearly dependent on having input voltage for some reason when running both BLDC and DC modes. This is a problem on higher power boards where you really want to program settings without the supply connected as anything funny the software does when changing settings could cause a lot of damage.
For example on my new boards I am using 12v external supply to power the gate drivers and logic, as it is non possible to run the logic using a step down. This also allows operation at much lower voltages.
