Motors spin during detection but then won't spin

One of my new vescs (MakerX D75) is spinning the wheels correctly in the motor detection, but when I test the motor direction, the vesc short-blips and the wheel(s) will move slightly, but not spin. My other vesc is working fine with the same setup.
