How to make VESC 4.12 can work with 14S batteries?

Hi Everyone,

For the VESC4.12, How to make VESC 4.12 can work with 14S batteries? if just change the components of VESC4.12 BOM, is it can work with 14S batteries?

I have change the components of VESC4.12 BOM to make sure that they are can support 14S, then test it, but it can't work.

Thanks

Ken

If you want to go higher in voltage the design needs substancial changes. The DRV chip itself has a limit of 60V incl any volatge spikes.

You would not call it HW 4.12 any longer after changing it to be 14S capable.

Hi Frank

Thank you very much for your information.

By the way, the current firmware and software whether can support it? if I can add some components to make sure the Hardware can support 60V with the DRV chip.

Thanks

Ken

I have a vesc-software-compatible motor controller that does 160V..... (the FETs can handle 200V, but I'd keep a safe margin. And for now we didn't need more than 160, but 180 should be possible. )

So with a few tweaks, the software can handle more than 60V just fine.

Going to the office now to finish building "number TWO". Number one is currently broken, and having a number two helps to find out what.... So... currently no working version exists in the world right now.
